Missouri Youth Soccer Association Ideas

Members,

We are looking for some suggestions and opinions as to how we as Missouri Youth Soccer Association Board of Directors can change the current perception of Missouri Youth Soccer Association. We have heard on many occasions from our members that Missouri Youth Soccer Association is driven by the East District and the other Districts throughout the state don't get the time of day. I personally would like to see that perception change. However, we need the support of the soccer communities from each District in order to make some improvements. We are looking to everyone for their opinions. So, we are open to suggestions and advice as to what is working and what is not? What would you like to see changed and how? Small Sided Games, State Cup, Toyota Cup, Kohl's Cup, Recreational Programs, ODP, etc.

We have many new members on the Missouri Youth Soccer Association Board of Directors with many new ideas along with the desire to improve the game.

We currently will be holding a Missouri Youth Soccer Association Board Meeting on May 31st @ Holiday Inn Select in Columbia, MO. If possible I would like to have some ideas to discuss, and work on over the next few months. You can e-mail me @ This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , or call me @ 1-314-620-9568 anytime with suggestions.

Sincerely,

Travis C. Ross

President Missouri Youth Soccer Association

The Toyota State Championship Series has been CANCELLED

Based on the current number of teams entered into the 2008 Toyota Cup, and the projected loss that both Lake Country Soccer and Missouri Youth Soccer would suffer financially, we have cancelled the 2008 tournament.

This decision is due mainly based on the projected financial loss ($15,000 minimum).

Last year’s event had close to 58 teams and with the horrible weather this spring season and the need to finish league games we had approx 28 registered teams for the tournament this year. MYSA cannot afford to take on an additional negative financial hit for this event. As I am sure you empathize with the difficulty of such a decision that the board had to occur, and the magnitude it may have on the event for 2009, there simply is no other way to run this event, with the number of teams entered and the expenses that would far exceed team entry fees.

We are going to look at other options as to how we can make this tournament a success next year. (e.g. changing the dates so they do not conflict with league or other tournaments, maybe weekend games only etc.)

We appreciate all those teams and clubs that had planned on participating in this tournament and look forward to seeing you next year.

Please contact me if you need any further assistance or information.

Sincerely,

Travis C. Ross

Missouri Youth Soccer President
